It's time to blog. Again.

I used to do this a lot. Life got in the way and as things sometimes do, writing fell to the wayside. I'm more inspired to write now, because a lot has happened to me, especially lately.

Why the name, "Om Nom Nom Dot Com"? Because it's funny. I don't need more reason to do or say a lot of things apart from "because it's funny", so you'll see that here a lot.

I wasn't going to use the name because I thought it was a really great name for a website, and I didn't want my crafty name to be swiped so that I might one day register it. But I looked it up and someone else was craftier, because it's already taken (and there's nothing of any interest or value on the site, either. Someone is wasting my perfectly good web name!).

"Om nom" comes from the dictionary of Rhi and Kim (that's me). Actually, it comes from Cookie Monster, but we gave it a life of it's own. We have inadvertantly done that with a lot of words and phrases, actually. It's like twinspeak, except we're not twins. Still, to eavesdrop in on half of our conversations, no one would know what in hell we were going on about, or why the word "duty" is so dang funny.

I don't remember exactly how "om nom nom" entered our strange little vernacular, but it was somewhere along the line of the Cookie Monster joke, and the way Cookie (hold on... is that his name? Or his title? Is he "the Cookie Monster", or is his first name "Cookie" and his last name "Monster"?) would always make the sound "om nom nom!" as he piled Chips Ahoy into his big fat face.

At some point, "om nom nom" was shortened to "nom" and promoted to verb status. The verb "to nom" means "to eat".

Example:

"I want to nom."

"Ok, where should we go? What do you feel like nomming?"

In adjective form, "om nom nom" or the shorter, more often used "om nom" is used to describe something which is appealing, nice, desired, etc.

Example:

"Have you seen the new Johnny Depp movie? Johnny looks hot!"

"Oh my god, I know! Om nom!"

At the time it started, it seemed like a funny phrase to use, and it still makes me laugh. So that's the reason for the name.

The reason for the blog itself... breifly described above, but to further it... I was also somewhat re-inspired by my friend Gail, who happened to have been talking about her own blog the other day. I realized that I hadn't written anything in a very long time and that I kind of missed doing it. Instantly, I thought of a handful of topics and I'll be damned if I can remember now what any of them were.

That's ok... they'll come back to me. I might even go back to the old blog I haven't touched in over 3 years and pull out some of the better ones. But not yet. Fresh meat first.

This has not been an exciting reintroduction to my blogging ability, but that's the way it goes sometimes.

I was so interested in getting some writing done right off the bat, that I didn't bother to fix the template settings on Blogger, so pardon our dust until the place gets fixed up, and don't bail out on me yet... these random blatherings are bound to improve.
